This week our 'Star of the Week' was....

Jamal!

I'm glad you made it back to school this week so that you could enjoy being our 'Star' this week. Thanks for all your work and help.

Water Bottles
On Monday we had a special Assembly and everyone was given their very own water bottle.
This is to encourage everyone to drink more throughout the day, to keep our bodies hydrated and our brains working.
The bottles are for inside the classroom.
Everyone still needs to have their own water bottle for using outside the room.

This Week....
We have been very busy!
We made Twisty Trees. These were really tricky.
Everyone had to concentrate and work their finger and hand muscles. It was great for our fine motor skills!

Show & Tell
What a great start to a new way of presenting our news!
I'm was so pleased to see all the interesting things people found to bring. We had super questions being asked and a lot of fun with the clues!

This week everyone is sharing a Spring picture that you have to draw or create at home. I gave paper to those who needed it on Friday - it's in your reading folder!
Same people on the same day - check your Home Learning book or last week's Blog post if you have forgotten.

Thank you for all the effort and brilliant things you thought of last week.

On Friday we had Buddy Reading!
What is Buddy Reading and what happens?
Buddy Reading happens every fortnight throughout the whole school. Each class has a 'buddy class'.

The Year7/8 students come to the verandah classes. The older students listen to the juniors read their reading books and then they read poems from the children's Poetry book together. The senior students read a picture book or a story that they have selected to their buddy. Once the reading part has been completed, everyone gets to 'play' for a short time.

Buddy Reading is a great way for the junior children to get to know senior children. It also provides an opportunity for the seniors to have some responsibility and come back to the junior classrooms. They all love remembering when they were reading the same reading books and in the classes as 5 and 6 year olds!

This week everyone had a great time.

Sam's Visit...
We had our visit from Aunty Sam. This was VERY EXCITING!
Sam arrived at morning break for a special Room 4 Discovery session. She helped in the classroom. We all introduced ourselves to her, told her what we liked to do and what we thought we'd do when we got older. Everyone spoke with a big voice and spoke clearly. Ka pai Room 4.

We had a great time with box construction, a science experiment, the barbies, trains and all the other things in Room 4.

Sam comes from Australia!

Sam gave everyone a sticker and a pencil all the way from Australia to take home - thank you Sam!

This week we have a short week. We'll be busy as usual with some Portfolio work and testing happening as well.

Enjoy the long weekend!
